In 1991, an invitation was extended to Cobra Contracting (now Flint), a small local contract labour company, to participate in a joint venture with Metis Zone 6 and the Whitefish Lake Indian Band from Daishowa-Marubeni International Ltd (now Mercer). The Aboriginal groups formed a separate Company called Nesokmahtan Enterprises with the intent of supplying contract labour services to the pulp mill in a new joint venture with Cobra, called Bison Contracting. Nipiy Industries
Nipiy Industries is a Metis-owned business, founded by Jason Lizotte, the inventor of the Nipiy Hygiene Station. Nipiy’s patent-pending technology utilizes solar power to provide fully automated, handwashing without even touching a button. Their state-of-the-art sanitation station is fully portable, cordless and holds the largest water reserve available on the market.
The idea came when Jason had to fuel up his welding rig every morning and didn’t have any way to wash his hands at the pump. His entrepreneurial mind began brainstorming solutions and over the next few months, he developed the specs and design for this one-of-a-kind hand washing station. Find out more at here.
